Orphaned as a baby

As a baby, the Khitan-born Qiao Feng loses both of his parents. He is taken in and raised by a couple from the Song Empire, even though their nation is at war with the Khitan-led Liao Empire. His true heritage remains a hidden burden from the very start of his life.

Rise to prominence in the wulin

Qiao Feng grows up to become a formidable and righteous martial artist, earning renown across the wulin, the community of martial artists. His skill and integrity eventually lead him to become the chief of the Beggar Clan, one of the largest martial arts clans.

Fall from grace

Qiao Feng's Khitan heritage is revealed, turning the wulin against him because of the war between the Song and Liao empires. Around the same time, he is wrongly accused of committing a series of murders. Once honored, he becomes an outcast distrusted by his former allies.

Falling in love with Azhu

Amid his downfall, Qiao Feng meets Azhu and falls deeply in love with her. Even though the wulin has largely turned against him, she remains loyal and stands faithfully by his side.
