Saint John of Las Vegas

As a compulsive gambler grappling with his addiction, John, portrayed by Steve Buscemi, sets off on a transformative journey toward self-discovery and redemption. Leaving behind the lavish allure of Las Vegas, he moves to Albuquerque, taking on a new role as an auto insurance adjuster, closely monitored by Mr. Townsend (Peter Dinklage). At first, John is partnered with Virgil, played by Romany Malco, the company’s leading fraud investigator, and is assigned to scrutinize questionable claims in pursuit of a promotion.

However, John’s past soon beckons him back when he stumbles upon a dubious car accident just beyond the borders of Sin City. As he navigates his new responsibilities, he unexpectedly forms a bond with his eccentric coworker, Jill, enacted by Sarah Silverman, setting the stage for a tentative restoration of his life.

Throughout their journey, Virgil and John meet a colorful assortment of characters, such as Ned, a radical nudist played by Tim Blake Nelson, Tasty D Lite, a wheelchair-bound stripper portrayed by Emmanuelle Chriqui who has a flair for the theatrical, and a human torch performer from a traveling carnival, played by John Cho. Slowly but surely, John begins to find his place among Virgil’s well-honed skills, and as their investigation unfolds, he comes to understand that evading his addiction is not a feasible path to healing.

Faced with the stark truths of both his past and his current situation, John grasps that genuine recovery demands courage to confront his deepest fears. With escalating stakes, he must find the strength to revisit Las Vegas and tackle the temptations that have shadowed him for so long. Step by step, John approaches a profound realization: he can only hope for a fresh start by truly facing and overcoming his addiction.
