In the Middle Ages, Saint Nicholas travels with a gang of robbers, raping, plundering, and killing through the countryside. Their brutality leaves villages terrified as they move from town to town.

The villagers murder the bloodthirsty bishop and his men by setting the ship they travel on ablaze. The act ends the immediate threat, but Niklas vows revenge, signaling the birth of a deadly curse.

From that moment, a curse takes hold: whenever a full moon falls on December 5, St. Niklas and his helpers rise from the dead. The killings recur in a cycle that repeats roughly every 36 years.

The action shifts to Amsterdam, Holland, where a misty and snowy December night provides the perfect backdrop for the undead threat to return. The city becomes the stage for a battle between light and darkness.

17-year-old Frank and his friends are confronted by Niklas and his helpers on that dreadful night. The confrontation turns deadly as Niklas moves to strike, and Frank is left fighting for his life while his friends are targeted.

All of Frank's friends are murdered during the encounter. Frank manages to escape death, becoming the sole survivor of that brutal attack.

The police don't believe his story about the revenant and arrest him as the main suspect. His credibility is questioned, and the city searches for answers.

While Frank is in custody, a police car chase unfolds as Niklas attempts to flee. He escapes atop a fiery white horse, galloping over the roofs of Amsterdam's canal houses.

Frank manages to escape from the police and teams up with Goert, a suspended detective who had previously unraveled the Niklas mystery and warned that the cycle would strike again this year. The two form an unlikely alliance.

Goert believes there is only one way to stop Niklas: blowing up the revenant's boat moored in a remote corner of the Amsterdam Harbor. The plan sets the course for their dangerous mission.

Frank and Goert prepare their confrontation with Niklas, gathering resolve and outlining their steps to disrupt the undead threat. The city watches as the clock ticks toward the next December 5 cycle.

With the curse looming, the film underscores the ongoing battle between good and evil as the revenant prepares to return on December 5. Sint promises a brutal clash as the cycle seeks its next victim.
