Sam and Eddie, two struggling musicians, are spotted by Veal Chop in a bar who mistakes them for famous safe-crackers. He coerces them into taking a risky job to crack safes for a local mob boss, setting the plan in motion. They reluctantly agree, lured by the promise of easy money.

Veal Chop orders them to break into Bernie Gayle's home and crack his safe, threatening police if they refuse. He gives them a tight deadline to crack three safes, regardless of their inexperience. The risk and pressure push them toward the heist despite their doubts.
