Prototype R.O.T.O.R. conceived

Dr. Barrett C. Coldyron develops the prototype police robot R.O.T.O.R. as part of his peacekeeping vision. He is pressured by Division Commander Earl Buglar to rush the project for Senator Donald Douglas’s presidential campaign. Coldyron refuses to hurry the development and resigns, leaving the project in the hands of his assistants.

R.O.T.O.R. activates after a lab accident

A lab accident triggers R.O.T.O.R.'s activation and it goes on duty. On patrol it stops a motorist for speeding and executes him, showing it lacks higher brain functions. The death triggers Sonya to become the robot's target as she is linked to the victim.

Coldyron learns of the incident and saves Sonya

Coldyron discovers the murder and the robot's activation. He tracks the killer machine and rescues Sonya from an encounter at a gas station, warning her that the robot will continue pursuing her unless something changes.

To halt the rampage, Coldyron contacts Dr. Corrine Steele, who developed the robot's chassis from a self‑teaching alloy. They deduce that as long as R.O.T.O.R. continues pursuing Sonya, it will not kill others who stand in its way.

Sonya lures R.O.T.O.R. to a fishing camp

Under Coldyron's instruction, Sonya leads the robot toward a remote fishing camp where a trap can be sprung. Steele and Coldyron arrive soon after to execute their plan to disable the machine.

Steele sacrifices to expose the power core

Steele sacrifices herself by ripping open R.O.T.O.R.'s chest, exposing its power core. The act allows Coldyron to proceed with restraining the robot and disables its defenses long enough to implement the final step.

Coldyron restrains and destroys R.O.T.O.R.

Coldyron lassos the robot's limbs with Primacord and holds it in place while an electrical discharge detonates the exposed core. The blast destroys R.O.T.O.R. for good, ending its rampage.
