In medieval England, a young thief named Marian sneaks into a stable with the intention of stealing a horse. Her attempt is interrupted by Robin of Loxley, who catches her in the act but is captivated by her charm instead of reporting her.

As Robin and Marian's relationship blossoms, Robin faces an unexpected summons from the Sheriff of Nottingham. He is called to participate in the Crusades, leaving Marian behind and uncertain about their future together.

Four years later, Robin finds himself engaged in a brutal conflict against the Moors while trying to rescue a fellow soldier. During this chaos, he encounters Yahya, a Moor warrior, who nearly ends Robin's life before being interrupted by Guy of Gisbourne.

After the battle, Yahya is captured alongside his son. Desperate to secure their freedom, he pleads for mercy, but the Sheriff cruelly orders his son's execution, a tragedy witnessed by Robin who is later injured and returns to England.

Robin arrives back in England, only to find his former life in ruins. The Sheriff has declared him dead and exploited the townspeople, extorting them under the guise of funding the war.

Determined to find Marian, Robin is heartbroken to discover her living a new life while distributing supplies to the poor. He witnesses her apparent closeness to Will Tillman, which leaves him feeling abandoned and despaired.

Robin encounters Yahya once more, but this time instead of seeking revenge, Yahya expresses his gratitude for Robin's previous actions. He offers to train Robin to fight back against the Sheriff, suggesting he be referred to as 'John.'
