Ringo

George Harrison holds a press conference about the Ringo Starr concert scheduled for that evening. He shares a parable about two babies born to different parents in the same country who look identical, foreshadowing the identity swap to come.

We glimpse Starr living the life of a rock star in Los Angeles, chauffeured in a limousine and flanked by adoring women, yet clearly bored and disillusioned. The glittering facade contrasts with his growing fatigue and restlessness.

Ognir Rrats leads a far humbler life, selling maps to the stars’ homes and facing belittlement along the way. He dreams of fame as a movie star and musician, while living with an abusive father who takes all the money he earns.

Starr longs for an ordinary life and suggests swapping places with Rrats for a few hours. He lures Rrats into the studio, and the two agree to exchange identities to pursue their different ambitions.

As Starr, now posing as Rrats, he is harassed by street greasers who mistake him for the real Rrats. He expresses a craving for a vintage car, even offering money for it, and then encounters Rrats' girlfriend Marquine before being dragged home by his abusive father.

Rrats, posing as Starr, signs an autograph as Ognir Rrats, which confuses Marty. Marty reminds him that he is due to appear on The Mike Douglas Show in 15 minutes, causing Rrats to panic and pass out.

Starr is grounded by Rrats' father and cannot convince anyone he is Ringo Starr. Later, Rrats, appearing as Starr, goes on The Mike Douglas Show and is clearly terrified, botching a drum solo in front of the audience.

After realizing his reputation is at risk, Starr escapes from Rrats' house but is arrested by a policewoman for grand theft auto. Two officers argue over which booking photo looks best, and he eventually escapes the station and runs into Marquine, asking her to lead him to the concert venue.

Marty enlists Dr. Nancy to put Rrats into a trance, guiding him to imagine himself among the music greats in order to remember his identity as Ringo Starr. The sequence bridges the pursuit with a chance to reclaim who he is.

We cut back to the press conference, where Harrison tells reporters that the Ringo Starr who will perform is actually Ognir Rrats. The audience learns that the identity swap was not just a joke but a real reversal being played out on screen.

Being brought out of the trance, Rrats uses the moment on stage to hawk star maps, prompting boos from the audience. The impersonation collapses as the crowd rejects the sham, ending in humiliation on the concert stage.

The real Ringo Starr arrives backstage and the two meet, acknowledging the swap. Starr decides to invite Rrats to be his road manager for the tour, allowing Rrats a chance at fame while Starr finishes the concert himself.
