Simon runs a corner shop on the Lower East Side, selling bootleg cassette tapes while a boombox blares. He scavenges food from nearby restaurants, survives on vodka and peanut butter, sleeps on the floor and looks after a neglected cat. When Marty, possibly an old flame, visits, their brief meeting underscores his down‑and‑out life in New York City.
