Return of the Fly

Following Hélène Delambre's death, Philippe Delambre dedicates himself to vindicating his father by finishing the teleportation experiment. Alan Hinds is revealed to be Ronald Holmes, an industrial spy seeking to steal the technology. He begins to plot with a shadowy buyer named Max to monetize the secrets. The project now carries a dangerous, dual edge of scientific breakthrough and corporate espionage.

Holmes tries to cut a deal with Max, aiming to monetize the secrets. A British agent confronts Holmes at the lab, warning of the consequences. Holmes knocks the agent unconscious and uses the transporter to store the body.

When rematerialized, the British agent bears the paws of a guinea pig that had been disintegrated earlier, revealing the grotesque consequences of the device. Holmes immediately sees the peril of the technology when its side effects become cruelly visible. He then kills the rodent and disposes of the dead agent by placing him in his car and sending it toward the Saint Lawrence River.

Philippe confronts Holmes about the oddities surrounding the experiments, leading to a confrontation in which Philippe is knocked out. Holmes uses the same concealment tactic he had with the agent, hiding Philippe as part of his malice. The trust in their collaboration collapses, replaced by danger and deception.

In a twisted move, Holmes captures a fly and adds it to the transporter, seeking to exploit the device’s power for his own ends. The mutation sets the stage for a grotesque rematerialization and a frightening escalation of the experiment’s consequences.

François rematerializes Philippe, but the result is a grotesque giant fly-headed form, a stark contrast to the earlier, smaller fly phenomena. The fly-headed Philippe roams the night, tracking down Max and eliminating him. He then awaits Holmes’s arrival, ready to settle the score for the betrayal and the danger unleashed by the technology. The pursuit culminates in a deadly confrontation that will decide Philippe’s fate.

Inspector Beauchamp tracks down the Phillipe-headed fly and captures it, trapping it with Philippe inside the device. The transporter is activated one final time, and the two are reintegrated, restoring Philippe to his normal human form. The balance between science and humanity is restored, but at a grave personal cost.
