On December 29, 1941, near Vyazma, a small Soviet detachment finds itself in a desperate, unequal battle against a special unit of the Wehrmacht. These soldiers, caught in the 'Vyazemsky cauldron', refuse to surrender and are prepared to sacrifice everything to defend their homeland. The film explores the origins of the myth of the 'Red Ghost,' a legendary Soviet soldier who inspired fear in the German forces during the Great Patriotic War. It portrays how ordinary individuals became symbols of courage and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds.
