The story is set in the 1930s when two French‑born Soviet agents covertly support Communist forces during the Spanish Civil War. Under Stalin’s iron grip, the KGB summons them to Moscow. Accused of unknown crimes, one agent chooses suicide, while the other flees with his lover and her child, pursued relentlessly by the Soviet secret police.
