Rampaging Dragon of the North

After years with the yakuza, Jiro returns to his fishing village to find boats and gear destroyed. Gen Ashida has punished the village for the Yamagata alliance. His mother rejects a yakuza in the village, while Reiko explains that Jiro's father was killed; Jiro resolves to seek vengeance.

Jiro slips into Ashida's headquarters and is confronted by Gen. Gen lashes out and beats Jiro as punishment for challenging the clan. Neighbors Some and Oritsu tend to Jiro's wounds afterward, while he hides his real revenge plan from his mother.

Aida, Reiko's father, leads the village fishermen as Ashida's men press lower payments, claiming the village cannot sell elsewhere. The fishermen grow restless and fear for their livelihoods as the Ashida clan tightens its grip. Tensions rise as the community contemplates rebellion.

Shinkichi, Jiro's youngest brother, and fellow fisherman Toshi volunteer to help kill Ashida. They begin quietly gathering allies and planning how to break the Ashida grip on the village. The plan deepens as the group commits to taking action.

The fishermen squander their money at a gambling operation run by Kumai Go, then Jiro joins the game to win it back for them. He defeats Kumai and regains funds that can be used to pressure Ashida and fund their plans. The victory boosts the group’s confidence.

Kumai tries to win back the fortune, but Jiro keeps beating him. Jiro uses his winnings to learn about the strength of the Ashida clan and discovers that their only real weapon is Gen's rifle. The discovery heightens the sense of impending danger.

During the festival, Shinkichi and Toshi steal fireworks to strike at Ashida. Gen retaliates by shooting Shinkichi, who dies in Jiro's arms. The loss hardens Jiro's resolve to act against Ashida's brutality.

Ashida considers killing Jiro with Kumai's help, but Kumai proposes a direct strike. Gen kills Kumai's dog Koro and then shoots Kumai in the arm, sabotaging the planned ambush and forcing a confrontation. The fragile alliance begins to crack as loyalties shift.

Ashida's men set the village on fire to intimidate the fishermen. Jiro returns to rescue his mother from the burning home where she had fled to recover memorials of her husband and son. The village descends into chaos as the smoke rises.

At their breaking point, the various families of fishermen join forces with Jiro to battle the Ashida clan. Jiro instructs them to scatter the hoodlums and take Ashida's fishing boats out to sea to sell the catch in their expanded shops. A shared purpose forms as the community begins to mobilize.

Kumai tells Jiro that a member of his own family was killed by Ashida and switches sides, revealing a large fishing clan tattoo on his back. The revelation shifts trust within the alliance and signals a turning tide in the conflict.

Ashida's men pursue the fishermen along the beach as the two sides clash with Molotov cocktails, swords, and pikes. Kumai intervenes to prevent Gen from shooting Jiro, and Gen fatally shoots Kumai, who had just avenged his dog Koro. Jiro watches as Kumai dies and is left emotionally shaken by the cost of revenge.

With the Ashida threat defeated, the fishermen expand their shops and catch more fish from their own boats. Jiro, weighed down by the deaths, turns himself in to the police to take sole responsibility for the victims and the violence. The village begins to rebuild as a self-reliant community.
