Michael [Michael Fuith] visits his ex-girlfriend’s Berlin apartment to return the keys and salvage what remains of their relationship, only to find two repairmen already there while Gabi [Anka Graczyk] has stepped out and cannot be reached. As Michael tries to contact her, a rage virus erupts and turns people into bloodthirsty cannibals. The older repairman lunges at him, and Berlin is thrust into chaos. In the midst of the collapse, the younger repairman, Harper [Theo Trebs], joins Michael in barricading themselves inside the apartment complex and bracing for the worst, while they attempt to locate and contact the other inhabitants of the building.

Across the collapsing city, the pair learn the virus spreads when people become agitated, and it can be slowed or stopped by keeping calm or by using sedatives. A desperate decision follows: Michael makes a deal with another resident to retrieve sedatives from a different apartment for the resident’s sick wife, hoping to buy time and safety for everyone inside the complex. As the situation tightens, Michael also comes across Gabi again, learning that she has begun a new relationship with a neighbor, the very reason behind their breakup.

Harper discovers a crucial weakness: the infected are photosensitive to camera flashes. With this knowledge, Michael, Harper, and Anita Emily Cox begin to plan an exit from the building, using cameras and floodlights to create a path to safety. But they are forced to leave Michael behind for the moment when he reveals he has been bitten. Undeterred, the trio attaches cameras to a bicycle to pedal toward the harbor, hoping the flashes will keep the infected at bay long enough to reach safety.

In the tense moments that follow, Michael remains behind in the square, weighing a final choice: take the remaining sedative to prevent his transformation or face the inevitable. Just as he contemplates the decision, he spots the now-infected Gabi emerging from the building. He chooses not to take the sedative, and the two share a final, intimate moment as he begins to transform and she closes in. The embrace is both a goodbye and a grim reconciliation with the fate that has overtaken them.

Meanwhile, Harper and Anita successfully reach the harbor and escape on a boat, leaving the chaotic city behind them as they flee the danger from the rage virus.
