In the postwar city, Michael, a major crime boss, and his right-hand man Mickey Moran draft a bold plan to steal a shipment of Uranium-238. They assemble their crew and map out every detail, counting on their networks to get away clean. The plan hinges on both cunning and timing to outsmart their rivals and the authorities.

The theft of the uranium shipment succeeds, and the bulk of the material disappears with the gang's escape. However, one of their henchmen, Blackie, is captured during the operation, creating a precarious situation for the crew. The loss of Blackie's freedom adds pressure to recover the material and manage the fallout.

Radar Patrol, led by Bill Travis, launches a full-scale hunt for information about the stolen material. They spot a photo found on Blackie and deduce that the waitress pictured is Blackie's girlfriend, triggering a citywide effort to locate her. They begin combing restaurants and public spots for a lead.
