Chittilanka Sundar, a recently married teacher, envisions a blissful life with Meenakshi. The couple's early days are clouded when Meenakshi elopes with someone else. Sundar feels betrayed, embarrassed, and begins secretly searching for her while trying to hide the scandal from neighbors and colleagues.

Sundar questions Meenakshi's parents and friends but gets no help. He relentlessly searches for her, trying to understand what happened and why she left. The mystery strains his relationships with those around him.

To maintain appearances when colleagues plan to visit the newly married couple, Sundar hires an actor Rekha to pose as his wife. They manage to pull off the ruse, though a noisy neighbor creates some hitches during the charade.

The headmaster of the school notices Rekha smoking with her friends and informs Sundar. He uses this opportunity to craft a plan to counsel Rekha, even arranging to buy a new HD TV on behalf of the staff to facilitate the counseling.

While browsing channels, Sundar comes across the news that Meenakshi has died, a shocking development that leaves him stunned and fearful about the truth of her disappearance.

Overwhelmed by shock, Sundar goes to the mortuary and identifies the body. The grim confirmation of Meenakshi's death weighs heavily as he processes the loss and its implications.

SI Rangam leads the investigation and quickly suspects Sundar. In the course of the inquiry, blood stains are found at Sundar's house, later revealed to belong to Meenakshi, deepening the mystery around her death.

Rangam suspects Rekha as Sundar's accomplice and subjects Sundar to interrogation to extract the truth. Sundar is forcibly pressed during the questioning, underscoring the mounting tension of the case.

During the interrogation, Sundar finally reveals the actual reason behind Meenakshi's departure, hinting at deeper issues in their relationship that contributed to the tragedy.

In their first night together, Sundar asks Rekha (still posing as Meenakshi) about her virginity. He later apologizes for the blunt question, but Rekha remains unresponsive, signaling the fragility of their arrangement.

Meenakshi leaves Sundar after an insult to his father and stays with her former boyfriend. The postmortem later indicates the death date as the 10th, and Sundar provides a partial alibi for the day, while the neighbor claims he was composing music and could not move.

Rangam interrogates Meenakshi's ex-boyfriend and learns she left him after a huge fight. The police attempt to arrest Sundar, but he escapes. It is ultimately revealed that Meenakshi stayed with a friend and planned to return to Sundar on the day of her death; the neighbor tried to assault her and killed her by accident. Rangam takes credit for solving the case as Sundar tries to move on with his life.
