Six kids from out of town arrive at Ed Harley's store, prompting local children to recount chilling tales of Pumpkinhead. This conversation stirs tension, foreshadowing the chaos that is about to ensue.

Calamity strikes when one of the newcomers, Joel, while racing his dirt bike, tragically collides with Ed's young son. Overwhelmed by panic and influenced by alcohol, Joel flees the scene, leaving Ed's son to succumb to his injuries.

Consumed by grief and a burning desire for vengeance, Ed Harley seeks out an old witch rumored to possess the power to summon Pumpkinhead. This act sets in motion a series of horrifying events as the demon is awakened from its dark slumber.

Meanwhile, Joel's friends, alarmed by the accident, attempt to get help, but panic overwhelms Joel, leading him to take them hostage. Tensions rise as Maggie, one of the girls, attempts to escape, prompting chaos among the group.

Their harrowing escape leads them to a burnt church, where a horrific confrontation with Pumpkinhead ensues. Jeff suffers severe injuries during the chaos, intensifying the group's urgency to survive.

Realizing that he can end the carnage by sacrificing himself, Ed prepares for a final confrontation. However, his plans are thwarted, leading to Tracy firing a pivotal shot that ultimately destroys Pumpkinhead in a fiery climax.
