An old psychic woman enters a hospital in Osaka and pleads with Dr. Ukyo Rettsu to remove a large cancer growth that's killing her. The surgeon treats it as a routine cancer case, but the extraordinary signs surrounding the tumor hint that something supernatural may be involved.

Rettsu discovers the cancer is actually a demon messenger heralding a demonic invasion from 5,000 years ago. He is told that he himself is the man foretold to halt the invasion. The revelation reframes the medical crisis as a prophetic mission.

The old woman dies, but her glowing spirit imbues Rettsu with supernatural abilities. He awakens with enhanced toughness, strength, and speed that set him apart from ordinary humans.

Rettsu and his lover, Fuyuko Asahina, decide to investigate Japan's past to uncover the source of the impending invasion. Their quest takes them beyond present-day battles into ancient clues and hidden histories. The mission binds their fates as they seek answers together.

Their investigation brings them to an ancient temple where Rettsu must confront a gigantic demon. The confrontation tests his newfound powers and resolve, pushing him toward a climactic showdown.

The duo travels to Kyoto University to consult Dr. Takase, who redirects them to the old ruins of the Jomon period. He hints that the demon civilization may have origins buried in prehistoric Japan. This leads them toward a deeper, time-spanning expedition.

In another expedition with Asahina, Rettsu discovers a portal that transports him five millennia into history. There, he encounters five nun spirits known as the Five Goddesses who promise to aid him against the invasion.

In the Jomon period, Rettsu allies with human natives and defends them from demons, infiltrating the demon civilization’s underground realm. He learns the demons plan to travel into the future and exterminate humans to preserve their own race. The stakes are revealed in stark, ancient terms.

Before most demons can cross a portal opened by their unseen demon queen, Rettsu destroys them with their own explosives. He then returns to the present to confront the consequences of the past battle. The immediate threat is temporarily neutralized, but the menace remains.

Back in the present, Rettsu reunites with Asahina and plans to marry. The Five Goddesses warn that the demon race is not extinct yet, because the demon queen remains alive and at large. The danger lingers, demanding vigilance.

In a secret catacomb, Asahina reveals that she is the demon queen who has taken human form. Across history she seduced men to spawn demons and sent them back in an attempt to rebuild her civilization. She asks Rettsu to die with her, threatening to drag him into the same fate.

The queen attacks and dominates Rettsu, but the Five Goddesses intervene to turn the tide. Rettsu defeats her, Asahina dies proclaiming her love for him, and Rettsu returns to life with the curse finally destroyed. The immediate threat of the invasion ends, leaving Rettsu to rebuild his life.
