Asahina was the demon queen who had taken human form and lived among people for centuries. She seduced men across different ages to spawn new demons and secretly rebuild her civilization. She chose to be with Rettsu both to manipulate events and because she genuinely fell in love with him, leading to her tragic proposal to die together.

Foreshadowing: The Five Goddesses' warning about the queen manipulating history and seducing men across ages foreshadows Asahina's true identity.
