During the formative years of the Republic of China, a time marked by civil strife and foreign invasions, the citizens suffer greatly. Amidst this turmoil, Lucky Star Town stands as a tranquil haven, home to seven retired martial artists who have chosen to leave behind their chaotic pasts to lead quiet lives. This eclectic group features the Taoist priest Chanting Bing, the tailor Little Tailor, the brothel owner Madonna, the vendor Little Trumpet, a neighbor known as Manysons who is raising three children, and the culinary talents of Madonna’s sister, Mademoiselle Hong.
One day, while at the bustling market in Lucky Star Town, Cheryl Lin, the daughter of the notorious warlord Lin, unintentionally encounters Little Tailor. This unexpected meeting leads to a budding romance, defying the boundaries set by their social classes. However, Cheryl returns to her family's estate without realizing the true identities of the townspeople.
As events unfold elsewhere, a group of Chinese patriots, which includes Qin Hao, Howard Luo, Terry Chen, and Janice Fang, arrives in the Northeast. Their mission is to infiltrate a Japanese military base to obtain classified documents detailing espionage activities and plans for invasion, which they intend to share with revolutionary forces. They are joined by their comrade, Tony Luo, who is set to meet them in two days.
Meanwhile, the Tiger Den, a menacing assassination syndicate overseen by the Japanese operative Kiyoko Kurosawa and the dangerous Hong siblings—Tiger, Leopard, and Phoenix—is plotting to manipulate Warlord Lin to further their aims.
In a daring night raid, the patriots successfully penetrate the syndicate's stronghold to seize the coveted documents, but they soon find themselves ambushed by the Tiger Den's forces. A fierce battle breaks out, resulting in the deaths of Howard, Terry, and Qin at the hands of the formidable Hong siblings. The only survivor, Janice, narrowly escapes but is struck by Kiyoko’s poisoned dart, leaving her weak and collapsing outside Warlord Lin's estate. Cheryl discovers her and secretly rescues her, moving Janice to her room for much-needed medical attention, while her father remains suspicious of her actions.
As events progress, Cheryl manages to smuggle Janice to Lucky Star Town, where the seasoned masters, including Bing, Manysons, Little Tailor, Little Trumpet, and Manuelle, channel their martial arts energies to counteract the poison and save Janice.
That very night, Tony Luo arrives at Lucky Star Town in search of his companions. However, upon returning home, Cheryl uncovers Kiyoko's scheme to assassinate her father by posing as a special guest. When Warlord Lin realizes the deception, he instructs his daughter to escape as he bravely fights off Kiyoko and the Hong siblings but is ultimately overpowered and rendered a pawn in Kiyoko's plot for a political marriage alliance.
Cheryl is pursued through the forest by assassins, only to be rescued by Tony, who vanquishes her pursuers and takes her back to Lucky Star Town. Janice awakens and reunites with Tony, sparking hope for the rebels.
Tony implores the seven masters for their aid in dismantling the Tiger Den alongside Janice and Cheryl. Initially skeptical, the masters hesitate due to their past traumas and fear of disrupting the peace in Lucky Star Town. However, as Kiyoko escalates her attacks, sending a battalion of masked assassins from the Black Wind Clan to annihilate the town, the group's resolve shifts. The next day, as preparations are underway, the Black Wind Clan ambushes them but is ultimately vanquished by Tony and the seven masters working together.
Then, Kiyoko employs illusions to masquerade as Bing and Madonna to spread confusion among them. Manysons ingeniously lures the fake Chanting Bing into revealing herself through an awkward song, resulting in Kiyoko’s fury. In a desperate act, Kiyoko strikes out with poison, and Manysons heroically shields Madonna, sacrificing himself after confessing his love and leaving everything to her.
Grief-stricken by the loss of Manysons, the remaining masters, along with Tony’s team, launch an assault on the Tiger Den headquarters to thwart the forced union between Warlord Lin and Kiyoko.
Inside the stronghold, the united group dismantles the syndicate’s forces. Little Tailor utilizes his energy to remove the poison needle from Warlord Lin, restoring his consciousness. Various battles ensue: Bing faces off against Tiger, while Madonna, Little Trumpet, Little Tailor, and Manuelle unite to defeat Phoenix, and Tony takes down Leopard in a pivotal moment.
After regaining his strength, Warlord Lin retaliates against Tiger, viciously stripping off his armor before allowing Tony to finish him using the very move that had claimed Howard’s life.
Kiyoko, now cornered, tries to escape into the depths of the forest using her stealth techniques. Nevertheless, the masters, under Cheryl's strategic guidance, locate her through spiritual awareness, launching a coordinated attack from below. Forced back above ground, Kiyoko meets her end at Lin’s hand, though she makes one last attempt to harm him by launching poisoned darts, which are intercepted by Little Tailor, who defies expectations by emerging unscathed.
In the aftermath, while Tony and Janice prepare to leave and continue their fight alongside the liberation forces, Lucky Star Town slowly reverts back to its peaceful existence, solidifying the romantic ties formed amidst the chaos.
