Pinocchio

In a Tuscan village, Geppetto carves a wooden puppet named Pinocchio. Pinocchio immediately roams the city, sowing weeds and creating commotion. The two carabinieri intervene, arresting Geppetto on suspicion of abusing the puppet and letting Pinocchio go free.

Pinocchio ignores warnings from a talking cricket. He returns home, dreaming of a life as a vagabond. The dream foreshadows the temptations and misadventures that lie ahead.

Geppetto discovers Pinocchio has burned off his feet and quickly carves new ones for him. Pinocchio promises to behave and to start going to school. The incident marks the first lesson in responsibility for the puppet.

To fund Pinocchio's education, Geppetto sells his tunic to the abbey. Pinocchio, chasing a shortcut, sells the book to attend a puppet show. The choice pulls him away from school and toward the puppet world.

The puppets invite Pinocchio to the stage. Fire-Eater initially threatens to burn him but changes his mind after learning about Geppetto and gives him gold coins. The Fox and the Cat escort Pinocchio home, beginning a pattern of deceit.

The Fox and the Cat tell Pinocchio about the Fields of Miracles, where coins sprout from trees of money. They persuade him to plant the money and trust their words. The lure sets Pinocchio on a dangerous path.

After a night at an inn, the Cat and Fox disguise themselves as bandits and chase Pinocchio, hanging him for his money; the Cat's paw is injured in the process. A blue-haired Fairy takes pity, frees him, and commands her servants to help. The Fairy's intervention marks a turning point toward mercy.

The Cricket offers firm guidance and encouragement, while the Fairy reinforces the idea of returning to Geppetto. Pinocchio continues his journey with renewed resolve to do right. Their words emphasize the struggle between temptation and responsibility.

The Fox and Cat mislead Pinocchio into another trip to the Field of Miracles. A parrot exposes their trick, and Pinocchio reports to a baboon judge in Catchfools. He is jailed, but a dog guard frees him during a celebration after he proclaims a crime.

Pinocchio resolves to be good and heads toward school, but bullies drag him to the seaside. He is briefly captured by police, then escapes when Alidoro the dog falls into the sea. Pinocchio's decision to save the dog leads to further peril.

The Green Fisherman tries to eat Pinocchio, but Alidoro intervenes, saving the puppet's life. After a conversation with a dove, Pinocchio is aided in returning home. The trio's bond strengthens as they part on the shore.

Rainy weather leads Pinocchio to meet Wickley and join a boat toward Amusement World. They explore a floor where children are transformed into donkeys to work; Pinocchio is forced to perform at the circus. The day's choices pull him deeper into danger.

The Ringmaster discards Pinocchio when he is no longer useful and orders him thrown into the sea. Pinocchio reverts to a puppet as he hits the water. The sea becomes a new crucible for his growth and danger.

In the ocean, Pinocchio is swallowed by a giant fish and later discovers Geppetto inside the same fish. They escape from the sleeping creature and reach the dawn on the surface. The shared peril for father and son strengthens their bond.

On the shore, the Blue Fairy kisses Pinocchio on the head and disappears as policemen and Alidoro reach the scene. The next day, Pinocchio wakes as a real boy and walks with Geppetto through the village, his shirt turning back into the kite Geppetto wore in his youth.
