Daffy Duck is excited while watching 'The QTTV Sportsman Hour', a hunting show where the host offers a $1,000 prize for the first viewer to bring a rabbit to Station QTTV. He tries to persuade Bugs Bunny to come to the station by offering TV show tickets, but Bugs suspects Daffy's plan and declines. Daffy then threatens Bugs at gunpoint to participate.

Daffy traps Bugs in a telephone booth outside Station QTTV and runs into the studio, intent on winning the prize himself. Bugs gets a call inside the booth and answers a question correctly, winning a jackpot from the show 'People Are Phoney'. Daffy remains outside, suspicious but determined to seize the opportunity.

While Bugs is in the telephone booth, he answers a math question correctly, earning a jackpot which dispenses through the coin slot. Bugs confidently explains his knowledge, stating, 'One thing we rabbits know how to do is multiply,' showcasing his quick wit.

Daffy appears as a contestant on 'People Are Phoney', helping a lady cross the street on camera. The plan backfires when the lady hits Daffy with her umbrella, and he gets hit by a truck and a motorcycle, leading the host to declare that 'People Are Phoney'.

After being hit by vehicles, Daffy staggers and tries to recover, but the audience is entertained as Lamplighter comments that Daffy did not quite make it. Daffy is visibly dazed from the chaos, exemplifying the slapstick humor of the scene.

Daffy, still upset, seeks Bugs in the studio and asks an usher (actually Bugs in disguise) if he has seen a rabbit. Bugs points him to a door, leading Daffy into the segment 'Were You There', which reenacts the 'Indian Massacre at Burton’s Bend' with Daffy getting scalped in the reenactment.

Daffy emerges from the reenactment with his head scalped, muttering 'All right, where's the wise guy?' as he attempts to play it cool after the embarrassing ordeal. His head injury is an exaggerated comic element typical of Looney Tunes.

Bugs, disguised as a producer, tricks Daffy into putting on a rabbit costume by claiming he's wanted for a 'Costume Party.' This sets up Daffy's next misadventure, illustrating Bugs's cleverness in outsmarting Daffy.

Daffy, in the rabbit costume, arrives at the 'QTTV Sportsman Hour' show, intending to get the prize. Bugs collects the fee Daffy wanted for himself, revealing Bugs's mischievous tactics in the scheme.

As the host declares it is now duck season, hunters appear and shoot at Daffy, who protests that he's not a rabbit but a duck. The hunters' shots are ineffective, and Bugs dismisses the shooting as 'blanks on TV', though Daffy notices he's been shot and humorously comments on it.

Daffy, with his beak full of buckshot, mutters about blanks, passing the shot back to Bugs. Despite the comical violence, Daffy survives the ordeal, his frustration mounting as he realizes he was duped once again.
