Ramakrishna Prasad is depicted as the paternal authority of a conscientious joint family, protecting his brothers and cousins. He guards the clan from a long-running feud with Bhaskar Rayudu, a formidable foe who once shared his trust. The family treats him almost as a deity, relying on his leadership to keep everyone safe and orderly.

Seeta Mahalakshmi has patiently waited to marry Ramakrishna for fifteen years, bound by a vow and a pledge not to burn until he weds. Ramakrishna, for his part, has promised to stay unmarried until his siblings are settled. Their quiet, enduring love becomes the emotional backbone of the story as tensions rise around them.

Durga Prasad and Neelaveni plot to lock two birds in a bid to create a rift within the family, testing loyalties. They weave schemes that threaten harmony, but the tight-knit clan resists the manipulation. The attempted rift is foiled by the strength of their bonds.

Bhaskar Rayudu schemes a government project by constructing an inferior structure, with Durga's involvement. Ramakrishna confronts him, forcing a resignation and steering the looted funds back to the state. He then pays back the amount himself to restore a sense of justice, earning Bhaskar's enmity.

Bhavani falls for Sravani, despite learning she grew up in a prostitute's house, and wants to marry her to guard against evils. He acts to formalize the alliance, but Chenchuramaiah exploits the situation and engineers a fire that targets the family. The danger tests the limits of Bhavani's loyalties and Ramakrishna's patience.

Chenchuramaiah sets fire to the family as part of his scheme, plunging everyone into crisis. Ramakrishna appreciates Bhavani's intentions and aids him, yet he hesitates to fully back the plan due to the broader burden on the family. The event tests Ramakrishna's leadership and his willingness to bend rules for blood.

Burned by the chaos, Bhavani quits the main estate and finds shelter at the family farmhouse. The relocation isolates him from the others but preserves him from immediate danger. The shelter also deepens the rift within the clan as allegiances shift.

Sai Prasad and Durga Prasad push forward a factory project on the property where Bhavani resides, challenging Ramakrishna's authority. Ramakrishna hinders the move to protect the family’s assets, triggering a split in the estate. To safeguard the clan, Ramakrishna keeps the maximum share for himself, fueling resentment from Sai and Durga.

Bhaskar Rayudu opens shares to the public, amassing ₹10,000,000 (US$120,000), while Sai is tasked with depositing the money. The money trail exposes the depth of corruption behind the family business. Tensions rise as trust within the clan continues to erode.

Where Bhaskar had planted deceit, Ramakrishna improvises by selling his brothers' shares to repay the looted amount. Sai and Durga accuse him of betrayal, and their mother rebukes him for overstepping his authority. Still, Ramakrishna maintains his moral stance amid the family’s growing fractures.

Ramakrishna and Seeta become engaged, and the mood in the clan shifts toward marriage. Ravindra, Bhaskar Rayudu's brother, betrays Ramakrishna's sister Parvati, driving Parvati to suicide. In retaliation, Ramakrishna defeats Ravindra and, soon after, his uncle dies, leaving Ramakrishna guardian to Parvati's infant children. He vows to raise them as worthy members of the family.

Bhaskar Rayudu and Chenchuramaiah hatch a final plot to garrote Seeta and frame Ramakrishna for a suicide. To honor his vow, Ramakrishna ties the wedding chain to Seeta's lifeless body, fulfilling her long-held pledge. The funeral becomes a scene of arrest as the police take Ramakrishna into custody.

Bhaskar Rayudu, turning against his allies, betrays Chenchuramaiah and Neelaveni, cutting them off as the plot unravels. Chenchuramaiah dies, but not before he concedes the truth with a conscience-stricken confession. The betrayal exposes Bhaskar Rayudu's declining hold on the clan and lightens Ramakrishna's burden in the endgame.

In the final confrontation, Ramakrishna and Bhavani manage to stop the villains, but both are gravely wounded. Ramakrishna and Seeta choose to end their lives together in a ritual self-immolation, leaving a tragic but powerful legacy of loyalty and sacrifice.
