In a not-so-distant future, Michael Jennings works as a highly skilled reverse engineer. He specializes in analyzing and enhancing competitors' technology, ensuring he remains safe by opting for memory wipes after each job.

Jennings receives a lucrative job offer from James Rethrick, his former college roommate and now the CEO of Allcom. This three-year contract requires him to live on the company’s fortified campus and promises substantial financial rewards.

Upon arriving at Allcom, Jennings checks in his personal items and is introduced to the facility. He meets botanist Dr. Rachel Porter, leading to a charming interaction that hints at future complications.

As Jennings settles into his new role, he undergoes the implantation of a long-term memory marker. This sets the stage for the memory wipe that will follow the completion of his intense work at Allcom.

Three years pass, and Jennings concludes his work at Allcom, receiving thanks from Rethrick. However, he is taken aback to discover that the Allcom stock he should have owned has skyrocketed in value after he accidentally signed it away.

Jennings finds himself unexpectedly captured by the FBI and interrogated by Agent Dodge regarding the mysterious death of Dr. William Dekker. Dodge suspects Jennings may be involved due to the patent applications signed by him and Dekker's classified work.

In a dramatic turn of events, Jennings manages to escape from FBI custody. With a set of mysterious items received earlier, he eludes his captors using clever tactics and intuition.

As chaos ensues due to his sabotage, Jennings narrowly escapes the explosion, outsmarting Rethrick in the process. This climactic moment leads to Rethrick's downfall amidst the ensuing chaos.

In the aftermath of the explosion, Agent Dodge, with reluctance, declares Jennings dead. This official declaration marks a pivotal turn in Jennings's narrative, hinting at new beginnings.

Despite the turmoil, Jennings and Porter, alongside Shorty, start anew by cultivating a peaceful life. They open a greenhouse nursery, focusing on creating a more tranquil existence following the chaos.

In a serendipitous twist, Jennings reveals a lottery winning ticket he had foreseen through the machine. This unexpected stroke of luck ensures a comfortable future for him, Porter, and Shorty.
