Ken McMullen’s film re‑imagines the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan through a Lahore lunatic asylum that mirrors the outside political turmoil. The same actors play both inmates and rulers, adapting Saadat Hasan Manto’s short story “Toba Tek Singh” with a screenplay by Tariq Ali. Released for the partition’s 60th anniversary, it is the DVD edition.
