Over Your Dead Body (2026) Spoiler-Free Summary – What It's About

In the shadow of professional disappointment and a crumbling marriage, Dan Burton and Lisa find themselves trapped in a relationship defined by resentment, regret, and unspoken grievances. Dan, a once-hopeful director now relegated to shooting pop-up advertisements, drifts through a career that feels increasingly hollow, while Lisa, an aspiring actress still chasing her big break, harbors her own frustrations and disappointments. Their connection has withered into something toxic—a union sustained by obligation and the faintest echoes of what once existed between them.

Seeking some kind of resolution, they retreat to a secluded lakeside cabin for a weekend away from everything. The isolation promises quiet reflection, an opportunity to repair what has broken or finally acknowledge what cannot be saved. Yet behind the façade of a romantic getaway, both conceal darker intentions. The remote setting, surrounded by still waters and dense forest, becomes a pressure cooker of suspicion and suppressed hostility, each preparing for a confrontation neither intends to lose.

What begins as a private showdown between two estranged spouses soon spirals when uninvited strangers arrive with lethal schemes of their own. The couple's carefully constructed plans begin to fracture, transforming a weekend of calculated betrayal into something far more chaotic and unpredictable. In this claustrophobic environment, where the line between predator and prey constantly shifts, Dan and Lisa must navigate escalating danger—and ultimately decide whether their fractured bond is worth preserving, or whether survival alone is victory enough.
