The moon god Tsukuyomi wages a cosmic struggle against Earth and the sun goddess Amaterasu. After growing jealous of Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi seeks to destroy Earth and regains power through manipulation and battles. He transforms into Orochi, driving the climactic conflict between lunar and solar powers across both earthly and celestial realms.

Oto Tachibana's life-energy sacrifice embodies divine love and loyalty. She gives her life energy to save Prince Yamato Takeru, enabling his survival and continuation of his quest. Her spirit continues to aid him at critical moments, ultimately helping restore life. This sacrifice binds love to renewal, culminating in rebirth of both life and mission.

Yamato Takeru is the protagonist, originally named Prince Ousu, a Yamato heir whose life is shadowed by his father Keiko's loathing. He discovers a prophecy calling him to become a god-slaying warrior and wields a comma-shaped gemstone that marks his path. Through trials and allies, he transforms into the colossal Utsuno Ikusagami to defeat the eight-headed dragon Orochi.

Oto Tachibana is a young priestess who joins Prince Ousu on his quest. She reveals herself to be an incarnation of the sun goddess Amaterasu and helps guide him on his path. She ultimately sacrifices her life energy to give Ousu life, aiding the warrior's fight against Tsukuyomi.

Tsukuyomi is the moon god who becomes the film's primary antagonist. He grows jealous of his sister Amaterasu, the sun goddess, and seeks to destroy Earth. He returns to power through manipulation and battles, ultimately transforming into the colossal eight-headed hydra known as Orochi, driving the climactic conflict between lunar and solar powers.
