One More Time (2016) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Amelia’s journey in "One More Time" revolves around her reliving her 18th birthday through a mysterious time loop, but as she progresses, she begins to understand that she has been given a second chance to repair her past relationships and become a better person. Throughout her repeated days, Amelia initially enjoys her youthful freedom, reconnects with her childhood friend Fiona, and experiments with new possibilities for her life, including romantic interests. However, she soon realizes that her efforts to be kinder to her friends, especially Moa and Max, don’t lead to the changes she hopes for. The key turning point comes when she understands that her true task is to mend her broken friendship with Fiona, who had been hurt by Amelia’s past betrayal and abandonment.

Despite her sincere apologies and attempts to rekindle their friendship, Fiona is initially reluctant due to the hurt she still feels. Amelia’s persistence pays off when she finally confronts Fiona at a local hilltop where they had buried their childhood wishes. She digs up the box, finding her own childish wish to be “a cool person,” and Fiona’s wish was for Amelia to fall in love with her. As Amelia is about to read Fiona’s wish, Fiona suddenly rushes to stop her, revealing that her wish was for Amelia to love her romantically. In her desperation, Fiona runs away onto the road, leading to a tragic accident where she is hit by a truck again.
