No Escape

In 2022, the penal system is run by corporations and prisoners are treated as assets. Robbins is imprisoned for life after murdering his commanding officer following orders to kill innocent civilians in Benghazi. He escapes from two Level 5 maximum-security prisons and is sent to a Level 6 facility.

A fellow prisoner warns him about Absolom, a feared island where the worst inmates are sent. The Warden, convinced Robbins is a threat after holding him at gunpoint, exiles him to Absolom to contain the danger he poses.

Robbins arrives on Absolom and is captured by a group of Outsiders led by Walter Marek. The Outsiders have turned an abandoned island resort into a rough base and rule with the Law of the Jungle.

Marek forces Robbins to fight one of his men for amusement; Robbins kills the opponent in seconds and earns Marek's grudging respect. When offered a position in the gang, Robbins refuses, knocks Marek into the pool, steals his rocket launcher, and flees into the jungle.

Robbins is pursued through the jungle and cornered at the edge of a high cliff, then shot with blowgun darts and falls into the river. He is rescued by the Insiders, a rival prisoner group led by the terminally ill doctor known as the Father.

Led by the Father, the Insiders have established a cooperative autonomous community with laws that stand in contrast to the Outsiders' tyranny. Robbins meets the Father, Hawkins, King, and Casey, and learns they are heavily outnumbered and that he is the only escapee from Marek's camp.

The rocket launcher Robbins stole is appropriated for the Insiders to help defend their camp and plan their escape. The weapon is repurposed to level the playing field against the Outsiders.

The Insiders secretly build a scan-proof boat and launch it to tell the outside world about Absolom. The boat is destroyed by attack helicopters, and the Father suspects there is an informer within the group.

Robbins infiltrates the Outsiders' camp to retrieve a distributor for a new boat, with Casey following. They are captured, and Robbins is forced to fight Casey to the death; Casey sacrifices himself by impaling himself on Robbins' weapon, allowing Robbins to escape.

Knowing Marek will attack, Robbins convinces the Insiders to abandon their camp but not before booby traps are laid. The Father dies defending Robbins from Marek, accelerating Robbins' decision about leadership and escape.

Robbins kills Marek and then discovers that King killed the engineer. King confesses to acting as a spy for the Warden, and Robbins forces him to reveal new coordinates for where the Warden's helicopter can land.

Robbins hints that Hawkins should be the new leader, per the Father's suggestion. He and the Insiders hijack the helicopter, eject the Warden, and vow to reveal the truth about Absolom to the outside world as the Outsiders close in.
