Nivedyam

Mohanakrishnan and his carpenter friends cause a disturbance during a neighborhood music rehearsal, drawing complaints from residents. They are arrested on the lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri's accusation, but Mohanakrishnan's guru Gopalan pleads for forgiveness, securing their release.

Kaithapram sends Mohanakrishnan to Ramavarma Thampuran for a better job and to learn Carnatic music. This transfer sets him on a new path away from his old life.

In the temple town, Mohanakrishnan meets Sathyabhama, an eighteen-year-old girl who earns a living making and selling pappadam. He falls in love with her at first sight.

Ramavarma appoints Mohanakrishnan as Keezhshanti (sub-priest) of the temple; with Ramappan ill, he effectively acts as Shanti (chief priest). His growing charisma helps boost temple donations and attention from local women.

One night Mohanakrishnan hears unexplained sounds and discovers a candy wrapper in front of Lord Krishna's idol. Shortly after, Sathyabhama enters the temple at night to offer candy and pray.

Sathyabhama reveals that whenever her cousin Surendran visits, she hides inside the Sreekovil because he once molested her. Mohanakrishnan agrees to let her stay that night to stay safe.

Mohanakrishnan informs Ramavarma of her plight. Ramavarma advises not to block the temple path, treats her like family, and offers money to Mohanakrishnan, who then travels back to his hometown with the money.

After two days away, Mohanakrishnan returns and the couple openly confesses their love inside the temple. They begin visiting the temple at night, meeting in secret.

The next morning the crowd discovers the couple's nocturnal sojourn in the temple. Ramappan beats Mohanakrishnan, and the crowd assaults him, leading to a police arrest arranged by Ramavarma to shield them.

Mohanakrishnan returns to Ramavarma's house, where Surendran arrives and takes Mohanakrishnan's sister away. Mohanakrishnan goes to exchange Bhama for his sister, setting off a new confrontation.

Surendran drags Bhama away; Mohanakrishnan chases after them and is beaten, collapsing before stone idols. He regains resolve when he sees Bhama being dragged off and fights back to reclaim her.

Surendran enters the temple with a sword to finish them off; Mohanakrishnan kills Surendran and is arrested. He vows to return to Bhama after his confinement.
