Jason and Midget, two young Black teenagers from Newark, New Jersey—often dubbed the unofficial car‑theft capital—spend their time stealing cars and joyriding like everyone else in their neighborhood. Their reckless spree escalates when they hijack a police cruiser, prompting a harsh police crackdown that includes beatings and even shootings of suspected offenders.
