Navagraha takes place primarily in Mysore, India, centered around the Mysore Palace during the Jamboo Savari festival. The heist operation then moves toward Mangalore Harbour as the criminals attempt to escape with the sacred artifact.

Navagraha is set in present-day Karnataka, unfolding during the cultural festival of Ayudha Puja and Jamboo Savari. The contemporary setting features modern crime dynamics and urban landscapes typical of modern Indian cities.

The Ambari is a sacred golden ceremonial elephant carriage from the Mysore Palace, a highly valuable artifact that serves as the target of the heist. It is a religious object central to the Jamboo Savari festival, making its theft culturally significant.

Jaggu is the mastermind thief who plans and executes the Ambari heist. A feared and charismatic criminal, he assembles a crew, maps tunnel routes, and orchestrates the elaborate theft. His ruthless efficiency and web of deception drive the film as betrayals mount around him.

Gowri is Jaggu's sister who helps bring her brother into the criminal operation involving Iqbal. She represents family loyalty but is pushed to her breaking point by the violence and chaos of the heist, ultimately becoming a tragic figure in the story.

The police response is led by Assistant Commissioner Bhagath, who orchestrates the security operation and arrest efforts, and Sub Inspector Prathap, who pursues the criminals and pieces together forged clues. Together they represent law enforcement's counterweight to the heist.

The Ambari heist is the central plot driver, with Jaggu assembling a crew, mapping tunnel routes, and planning to replace the real artifact with a replica. The operation relies on stealth, timing, and misdirection around festival rituals, ultimately unraveling as loyalties fracture.

Greed drives the criminal crew, with a massive payout luring them to participate in the $20 million target at the harbor and a potential $500 million on sale. Financial pressure and ambition push individuals to take unprecedented risks, as password changes and double-cross schemes highlight how greed corrodes trust.

Betrayal and loyalty form a central theme, with Gowri's loyalty to Jaggu clashing against the crew's self-interest. Kumbhi's hesitancy leads him to secretly change the payment password, sealing a doomed fate. Kiran's manipulation and Jaggu's paranoia drive a fatal cascade that tests every bond among the team.

Vicky is the son of the palace chief security guard who provides tunnel information to the heist crew. Struggling with Kiran's manipulation, he ultimately redeems himself by revealing the Ambari's location to Prathap, surviving the crash to start anew.

The ending is bittersweet: the sacred Ambari is recovered by police via helicopter as the criminals' escape collapses, and the mastermind Jaggu dies during the final pursuit. While the artifact is restored, victory comes at a great human cost with multiple character deaths.
