Myn Bala: Warriors of the Steppe

During the early 18th century, Galdan Tseren's Oirat forces strike Kazakh lands. The village of Sartai is ravaged, and most grown villagers are killed, including Sartai's parents; cattle are looted and property seized. Nazar the village smith leads the surviving children and elderly into the remote mountains to endure the upheaval.

Seven years pass as the refugees shelter in the mountains. Sartai, now 16, and his friends Taimas and Korlan become capable hunters under Nazar's guidance. Nazar forbids them from descending to the steppe, fearing exposure and danger.

Sartai, Taimas, and Korlan secretly sneak out to the steppe after hearing stories of Batyrs of the past. Nazar realizes he cannot keep them in the mountains any longer and takes them to a celebration in Rakhimjan's village. There Sartai meets Zere, the daughter of Rakhimjan, and falls in love, fueling his desire to prove his bravery.

During the celebration, Sartai and Taimas protest Rakhimjan's warm welcome of the Oirats and vow to avenge their murdered families. Korlan joins their cause, embracing the path of rebellion.

Amid ongoing raids, Kazakh sultans and knights set aside internal disputes to fight as one force. They begin gathering troops and coordinating a broader plan to confront the Oirat invaders.

Despite the growing threat, Sartai and his companions choose to continue their own raids rather than join the main army's disposition. Their actions yield early victories, but they remain outside the unified effort.

Sartai meets Sabit, Ilyas, Assan and Oussen, orphans who share a thirst for revenge. They join the group, and together they secure several victories that elevate their reputation and bravery.

Sartai and Taimas' dispute grows into a confrontation, threatening their cohesion as they pursue vengeance. The tension risks derailing their momentum even as their legend spreads.

The Oirat commander orders the killing of Sartai and seeks Rakhimjan's complicity. Rakhimjan refuses to betray Sartai and instead aids him, sheltering him from pursuit; this choice deepens the conflict and sets the stage for tragedy.

Korlan and Rakhimjan are killed during these perilous times. Zere ends up in Sartai's mountain village, joining him and the others as they endure the rising threat.

Kazakh and Oirat armies close in on the mountain village, setting the stage for a climactic confrontation. The two sides prepare for a battle that will decide the fate of the region.

Inspired by Nazar's counsel, Sartai shifts from personal revenge to national unity and joins the army led by the Kazakh sultans and knights. He leaves behind thoughts of vengeance and embraces the collective fight against the invaders.

In the heat of the climactic battle, Sartai and Taimas perform an extraordinary act of bravery. They give their lives in the name of freedom, symbolizing the cost of resistance against the invaders.
