Family man Abel Plenkov finds himself in a shocking predicament when he learns that he is the infamous Riverton Ripper, a masked serial killer. His life takes a tragic turn when he accidentally kills his pregnant wife, Sarah, and later murders his psychiatrist. As a result, he is shot and taken away in an ambulance, leaving his young daughter, Leah, and premature son orphaned. During the ambulance ride, a paramedic suggests that Plenkov may not be wholly at fault; instead, he is haunted by multiple personalities, one of which is the Ripper. Just as Plenkov faces death, he miraculously revives and attacks the paramedic, leading to a catastrophic crash.

In the aftermath of Plenkov’s demise, seven children, known as the Riverton Seven, who were born on the same day as his death, begin to exhibit traits of his fractured identities. Sixteen years later, these seven — the blind Jerome, the underachieving Alex, the imaginative Jay, the shy Bug, the devout Penelope, the gorgeous Brittany, and the athletic Brandon — come together each year for a ritual where they “kill” a puppet representing the Ripper, believing it will keep him from returning. Unfortunately, during the ceremony, Bug is chosen but fails, setting off a series of terrifying encounters.

The horror intensifies when Jay is brutally murdered by the returning Ripper, pushing Bug to channel his creativity into a class project inspired by Jay. At school, Brandon bullies Bug and Alex on behalf of the domineering Fang, who is revealed to be Bug’s sister. When the siblings attempt to investigate Fang’s feelings for Brandon, they uncover dark secrets. Amidst escalating violence—Penelope foresees the return of the Ripper and meets her doom, swiftly followed by the deaths of Brandon and Brittany—the siblings learn shocking truths about their past.

On a fateful night, Fang presents Bug with a rocking horse crafted by their father, Abel Plenkov. This moment reveals their true identities as his children, with Bug having survived in utero while Leah felt resentment from her traumatic past. They reach an understanding, but tragedy does not stop there.

As Alex and Bug begin to put the pieces together, theorizing that the Ripper’s malignant spirit has jumped into one of them, their friend Jerome comes to a sinister end. In a shocking climax, Alex reveals himself as the vessel for the Ripper’s soul and proposes a heinous plan to eliminate Fang while framing Jerome. Bug, empowered by the spirits of the dead children, stands firm against Alex, ultimately killing him to free his friend from the Ripper’s grasp.

In the wake of the chaos, Bug, despite assuming his fate is imprisonment, finds redemption when Fang clears his name, proclaiming him a hero. Struggling with his newfound identity, Bug resolves to honor his friend Alex’s legacy, vowing to “fake it good” for the sake of their shared memory.
