Sunset Shimmer, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Twilight Sparkle gather to prepare Canterlot High's yearbook. In the office, they meet Wallflower Blush, a meek student ignored by many, and Trixie arrives demanding inclusion as 'The Greatest and Powerfullest.' Sunset points out that the category isn't real, which sparks Trixie's threat of revenge.

Sunset arrives at the beach with her friends only to find that most of them have erased memories of her, remembering only her past misdeeds. Twilight recalls the argument from the Friendship Games, while the others can't recall their friendship with Sunset at all. Desperate, Sunset writes to Ponyville's Twilight to seek help.

Ponyville's Twilight confirms she remembers Sunset as a friend and agrees to help. Sunset asks Twilight to meet in Equestria, and together they travel to Canterlot to consult Princess Celestia.

Sunset apologizes to Celestia for her betrayal, and they reconcile. Celestia, Luna, Twilight, and Sunset then head to the library's restricted section to search for clues about a magical cause behind the memory erasures.

After hours of research, they discover ancient writings about the Memory Stone, a magical artifact capable of erasing memories, and learn it linked to the parallel world via Clover the Clever. They realize someone is using it to manipulate memories.

Sunset travels back to the parallel Canterlot High to explain her side of the story, but Trixie initially refuses to believe her. Trixie offers to help if Sunset includes her in the yearbook, turning the quest into a collaborative investigation.

Sunset discovers Trixie is not the culprit after questioning students; Trixie agrees to help Sunset uncover the Memory Stone in exchange for the yearbook deal. They begin interrogating students around the school for information, but find little concrete about the stone.

Back in Equestria, Twilight learns that the Memory Stone's effects become permanent if not destroyed by the third day after its use and sends a warning to Sunset. The warning intensifies their urgency to locate and destroy the stone.

Sunset reads Twilight's warning in the yearbook office and realizes Wallflower Blush is behind the memory erasures, having acted out of being unnoticed. She mentally reads Wallflower's motive and confronts her, exposing the manipulation.

Wallflower tries to erase Sunset and Trixie's memories of their meeting and locks them in the office. Sunset had previously recorded the incident in a drone, which helps them remember the truth and plan an escape. Trixie uses one of her stage tricks to aid Sunset's escape, but she is forced to stay behind.

Sunset confronts Wallflower in the school's parking lot, where Wallflower inadvertently reveals her actions to Sunset's friends. After Sunset fails to reason with her, Wallflower attempts to erase all of Sunset's friends' memories of high school, prompting Sunset to sacrifice her own memories of the parallel world to stop her.

Feeling remorseful, Sunset's friends declare her their friend again. Their geodes activate, transforming them into their powered forms, and they destroy the Memory Stone, restoring everyone's memories. The friends apologize to Sunset, who simply cherishes them being back.

Wallflower apologizes for using the stone to erase embarrassing memories and explains her isolation drove her to ruin others' recollections. The group forgives her, offering a chance at healing after the ordeal.

Sunset informs Twilight of the Memory Stone's destruction and thanks her for the warning. The two acknowledge how their friendship spans worlds and helped preserve those bonds.

The yearbooks are released, with Trixie discovering that Sunset kept her part of the deal. Wallflower discovers that her best gardener image contains signatures from Sunset and her friends, signaling forgiveness and reconciliation.
