Franklin Armstrong, Caleb Bellavance, and his family move from town to town because his father serves in the army. In the new place, he tries to start fresh and make friends again, but he quickly encounters the Peanuts crew—the curious Wyatt White as Linus, Isabella Leo as Lucy, Lucien Duncan-Reid as Pigpen, and Terry McGurrin as Snoopy—each with quirks that unsettle him at first. A brief beach encounter with Charlie Brown Etienne Kellici suggests they could be good friends, though Charlie Brown is soon called away by his mother.
When word spreads of a soapbox derby with a trophy and a year’s worth of pizza as the prize, the kids pair up, and Franklin and Charlie Brown are the last to choose, forcing them to team up. Lucy warns Franklin that Charlie Brown isn’t a great partner, but he chooses to focus on friendship over doubts. The two quickly discover shared interests and begin to bond. Franklin reveals his dream to become an astronaut, while Charlie Brown explains he longs to be a baseball player because it would let him visit many cities—something Franklin, who moves so often, understands all too well.
They test their soapbox, but Charlie Brown’s nerves get the better of him and he fiddles with the brakes, causing a crash. That night, the two reconcile, repair the broken cart, and vow to give it their best shot together.
Race day arrives, and the duo performs well until a runaway ice cream cart blocks the course. They steer clear but still crash; Lucy and Schroeder take the top spot. Charlie Brown is disappointed, but Franklin confesses that he cared more about being accepted by the gang than winning. Realizing the true point of the race, the two lift the damaged soapbox and push toward the finish as the rest of the kids cheer them on. Lucy, though initially reluctant about the partnership, eventually shows respect for Franklin and invites everyone to share pizza with her and Schroeder after the ceremony.
Having earned a place in the gang, Franklin enjoys pizza with Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts crew. During the celebration, he reveals that his dad’s new assignment will allow him to stay in town, ending the constant moving. The friends celebrate, and the pizza party resumes as they settle into their new rhythm together.
