My Date with the President’s Daughter

Duncan, an average teen from suburban Washington, D.C., makes a spring dance bet with his friends. He meets Hallie at the mall, who is secretly the President's daughter hiding from the Secret Service. He asks her to the dance and she agrees, giving him the address for their meeting.

Hallie accepts the date and hands Duncan the address of where to meet. He does not realize the address is the White House, which sets up the upcoming surprise.

The President initially refuses Hallie’s outing because of a fundraiser, but after a brief discussion with First Lady Carol, he relents and allows her to go. The change in mood clears the way for the date to happen.

Duncan asks his father Charles to borrow the company car, but he is turned down. Ignoring the refusal, Duncan takes the red BMW 525i anyway and drives to Hallie to pick her up. This act sets off a chain of complications later.

Duncan and Hallie arrive at the White House where Hallie’s father explains the limits and the Secret Service will accompany them. Hallie insists they’re only going to dinner and a movie, but the outing is a cover to slip away from the protection.

They succeed in shaking off the Secret Service during their night out. At the fashion store F/X, Hallie emerges in a pink velour mini-dress and picks an expensive leather jacket for Duncan. Duncan even uses his credit card to pay for the outfits, a detail that later creates friction with his father.

On the way to the dance, Hallie suggests checking out the newly opened Club Alien. Duncan phones his friends to reveal he’s bringing the President’s daughter and increases the monetary bet.

Back at the Fletcher residence, Mr. Fletcher discovers the company car is missing and tries to hide it from his boss. The Secret Service informs them that Duncan has run off with Hallie and orders the families to attend the fundraiser.

Hallie drives through the night and faces harassment from a truck of rednecks, which prompts a tense moment as she fears Duncan might not be able to defend her. The couple also encounters trouble at a biker bar and other delays with the car and travel.

Hallie discovers Duncan’s bet and briefly abandons him for Steve Ellinger. Duncan tracks down Steve’s house, fights him to free Hallie, and Hallie wrecks Steve’s motorcycle as payback. They admit their mistakes and reaffirm their bond afterward.

After escaping their pursuers, Hallie and Duncan realize their feelings for each other. They share a kiss on the Lincoln Memorial steps as the sun rises, signaling a shift from secrecy to possibility.

Back at the White House, Hallie apologizes for the trouble, and her parents forgive her. The President thanks Duncan at his school for Hallie’s date and allows the relationship to continue. Duncan’s reputation improves, his father is promoted after meeting the President, and Duncan and Hallie plan a second date with Secret Service protection.
