Nandini grew up as an orphan in boarding schools. She remembers Gopichand visiting her school regularly, leaving chocolates and letters. When she got older, he started depositing a substantial sum in her bank account, then stopped sending letters. This led her to believe he was her biological father who was secretly supporting her.

Nandini arrives at Gopichand's home and is initially welcomed warmly. However, she is given a drug-laced cup of tea, falls unconscious, and wakes up back in the mental asylum. This traumatic experience makes her doubt her own sanity and whether she truly belongs in the Verma family.

Gopichand's wife, children, and sister hire hitman Samar Khan to kill Nandini. They fear that if Nandini is truly Gopichand's illegitimate daughter, she could claim a share of the family's wealth and status, upsetting the existing power balance within the family.

At the family gathering, Maya reveals that Gopal Srivastava (the son of Gopichand's mentor) is Nandini's biological father. Maya was pregnant with Gopal's child, but he had hidden his marriage from everyone. Gopichand had discovered the truth and taken responsibility for Nandini out of duty to his mentor's family lineage.

Earlier, Gopichand treats Gopal like a younger brother and maintains a close relationship despite their age difference.

Pritam is a young guide in Ooty who befriends Nandini when she arrives. After learning she may be mentally ill and seeing the bounty on her head from the asylum, he feels responsible for her safety. His friendship grows into deeper care as he witnesses her kindness and learns of her difficult past.

Gopichand's son KC and son-in-law are worried that if Nandini is acknowledged as Gopichand's illegitimate daughter, she would have a legal claim to the family estate and wealth. They are concerned about losing their comfortable lifestyle that depends on the judge's resources, so they scheme to remove her permanently.

After Pritam hides Nandini in an abandoned bungalow to protect her from being returned to the asylum, goons hired by the family track her down. Pritam rescues her at the last moment, saving her from being taken back. This incident deepens the bond between Pritam and Nandini.

Gopichand discovered that his mentor's son Gopal Srivastava is Nandini's real father. Out of respect for his mentor's legacy and a sense of family obligation, Gopichand took it upon himself to secretly care for Nandini throughout her childhood, visiting her school and sending money, even though he never revealed the truth.

Nandini feels torn about the revelation. Although Gopal and Maya eventually reconcile and accept her as their daughter, Nandini feels more connected to Gopichand, who cared for her throughout her childhood, than to two strangers who suddenly claim to be her parents.

Gopichand calls together Pritam, Nandini, Gopal Srivastava, and Maya to confront the truth about Nandini's parentage. Maya reveals that Gopal was married and is Nandini's father. Gopichand then takes Maya to the hill station where Nandini was born, finally addressing the long-buried truth and taking responsibility.

The meeting is set up to address 'a case weighing on his conscience.'

At the end, the family accepts Nandini as Gopal and Maya's daughter. Gopichand decides to stay with his own family but signals a hopeful new chapter by proposing that Nandini marry Pritam, thereby weaving together love, duty, and lineage into the family's future.

Pritam and Nandini's bond develops throughout the film as he protects and cares for her.

After rescuing Nandini from goons a second time, Pritam confronts the family in a passionate, drunken outburst. He is frustrated by their scheming against an innocent woman and their attempts to harm someone he has grown to care for deeply.
