Studio head Joe Mulholland vows his ailing mentor, Saul Gritz, to turn a bestselling sex manual into a movie, even though he lacks a story. Stumped, he hires romantic‑film writer Herb Dorman—whose marriage is falling apart—and hot‑headed director Sid Spokane to shape the nonfiction book into a narrative film, leading to chaotic comedy.
