A robotic eye emerges from the Moon's soil and silently watches the Apollo 11 landing module ascend to space. The event hints at an ancient, watching presence seeded on the Moon. This mysterious moment foreshadows the later encounter with lunar-origin threats.

Two decades after the Moon landing, the Space Shuttle Camelot encounters an abandoned spacecraft in Earth orbit. Commander Jason Grant leaves the shuttle to investigate, discovering a reddish-brown pod and a mummified human corpse. They bring both artifacts to Earth, revealing they originated on the Moon fourteen thousand years earlier.

The unattended pod suddenly comes to life and begins assembling a cybernetic form from lab components and fragments of the ancient corpse. The entity signals the danger it represents and hints at a long-hidden lunar menace. Its creation marks the birth of the Kaalium threat.

The awakened construct murders a lab technician and engages security guards in a firefight at the facility. The confrontation reveals the cyborg’s lethal capabilities and relentless drive. Grant finally destroys it with a shotgun blast to the head.

Using the last completed Apollo rocket, Grant and fellow astronaut Ray Tanner depart for the Moon to locate the source of the lunar menace. They explore ruins hinting at a lost civilization and uncover a suspended figure who will later be revealed as Mera. The stakes are the survival of humanity if the Kaalium are unleashed.

Inside the Moon’s ruins they discover a woman named Mera suspended in time and revived by the explorers. She identifies the killer cyborgs as the Kaalium and provides crucial context about the lunar threat. Her existence is the humans’ only link to the Moon’s ancient past.

Grant, Tanner, and Mera survive a Kaalium assault and return to the Lunar Module, only to find it missing. The Kaalium then shoot down the command module, stranding the trio on the Moon. The situation becomes a desperate fight for survival.

In a subsequent wave of attacks, Ray Tanner is killed while Grant and Mera are taken prisoner by the Kaalium. The humans become part of the alien power’s plan as Earth becomes the target. The balance of power shifts dramatically in favor of the Kaalium.

The Kaalium board a giant ship carrying the human captives toward Earth, signaling a direct invasion threat. Grant and Mera observe the alien launch as they await a chance to escape. The voyage intensifies the urgency of their mission.

Grant and Mera free themselves and locate the landing module entangled in the ship’s machinery. Grant triggers the module’s self-destruct sequence and, using the gun’s recoil as propulsion, they blast a hole through the hull to escape. The ship explodes in a blaze as they reach safe distance.

Some time later, Grant and Mera are shown as a couple living on Earth. Mera confirms she learned English and explains she was put in stasis to warn others about the Kaalium. Grant reassures her that the threat has been defeated, and they begin rebuilding their lives together.

In the aftermath, a lone Kaalium pod survives the explosion and is seen in a junkyard, apparently building itself a new body. The threat remains latent, hinting at a potential return. The image leaves open the possibility of future danger connected to the Moon.

In a post-credits audio clip, Grant talks to a NASA official about possible debris from the alien ship that may have fallen to Earth. The official dismisses the concern, insisting any debris would have burned up in the atmosphere. The exchange underscores a recurring theme of ignored warnings.
