Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar

As Dethklok makes a triumphant return to the public eye with an eagerly anticipated press conference to announce their latest tour and sonic ventures, the band navigates a turbulent landscape fraught with emotional turmoil and harrowing realities. While most of the members remain blissfully ignorant of the traumatic events surrounding Toki Wartooth‘s rescue from the clutches of the Revengeancers and Metal Masked Assassin, Nathan, fiercely burdened by the crushing aftermath of loss—most notably the demise of Magnus Hammersmith—struggles to cope. Meanwhile, Toki has succumbed to a childlike state, a mechanism for emotional defense that culminates in a shocking collapse during their comeback performance, abruptly halting their plans and prompting a time of deep introspection at Mordhaus.

In a different facet of the Dethklok universe, Charles Offdensen, now leading the Church of the Black Klok, charges Nathan with the vital task of composing the “Song of Salvation” to avert the impending calamities signaled by the Doomstar and to counter Mr. Salacia’s apocalyptic ambitions. Despite this solemn responsibility, Nathan shuns the sacred assignment, favoring a quiet life alongside Abigail, who unfortunately rejects his affections, leading him to reassess his values.

As the tension escalates, General Crozier, temporarily liberated from Salacia’s controlling grasp, grasps the elaborate schemes of the Tribunal and seeks to convey an important warning. But his message is intercepted by Vader Orlag, who informs him that the target for possession is none other than William Murderface. Manipulated by Salacia, William’s psyche becomes a battlefield of grotesque hallucinations aimed at undermining Nathan’s resolve and obstructing the “Song of Salvation.” As if that weren’t enough, Salacia leverages William’s influence to pinpoint the Army of the Doomstar, complicating Dethklok’s precarious situation even further.

As Nathan’s escapades with the Whale Prophet reach a surreal conclusion under the influence of drugs, Dethklok embarks on a treacherous musical quest to perform their version of the “Song of Salvation,” disguised as “Aortic Desecration.” Unbeknownst to them, this perilous miscalculation triggers a catastrophic chain reaction. The Doomstar reacts to their dissonance, descending on earth and unleashing a storm of destruction that obliterates iconic landmarks and takes countless innocent lives. Amidst the havoc, the US Army and the Tribunal’s forces assault Dethklok’s stronghold, annihilating the Army of the Doomstar and resulting in Knubbler’s tragic fate.

In the wake of this harrowing confrontation, Crozier finds a newfound clarity, freed from Salacia’s detrimental control. However, William, still caught in the throes of manipulation, retreats in disgrace, believing he has irreparably undermined the band’s chances to save humanity. Against this backdrop of anguish and despair, Crozier extends his hand to help Dethklok as Skwisgaar Skwigelf grapples with the fallout of the harrowing assault that left him shaken. The band slowly comes to understand the dark nature of Murderface’s possession and, guided by Crozier, works to restore him, bringing him back into the dynamic fold of the group.

With the correct “Song of Salvation”—titled “SOS”—now attainable, Dethklok and Crozier reconnect with Edgar Jomfru to perform the long-anticipated ritual. Yet, their moment of emotional release is fleeting, as Vader Orlag instigates a preemptive attack against them. Captured by Salacia, Nathan faces an agonizing choice but resolutely declines her offer to join forces, bracing himself for the tortures he will face alongside his comrades.

As Dethklok dangles perilously above the abyss, ensnared by Salacia’s torturous contraption, Nathan seizes his opportunity, breaking free to destroy the supercomputer, thwarting Salacia’s grand ambitions of world domination. This bold act is complemented by Jomfru and Crozier’s infiltration of the lair, where Jomfru sacrifices himself to plant a bomb essential for obliterating the infernal machine while Crozier makes a bid to wrest control of the military.

In a remarkable exhibition of bravery and selflessness, Jomfru’s final act ensures the bomb detonates as planned. As the clock ticks down, Dethklok is bolstered by Offdensen and the Church of the Black Klok, alongside their legion of loyal fans, rallying together to mount a fierce defense against the Tribunal’s forces and the US Army, their battle cry resonating across the devastated landscape.

In a pivotal climax, Vader Orlag confronts Offdensen, momentarily lingering on his sinister intentions in his frenzied effort to obliterate this formidable opponent. At this juncture, Murderface steps in, creating enough distraction to enable Offdensen to summon his strength and deliver the fatal blow that sends their adversary crashing down.

As tranquility begins to take hold over the ravaged battleground, Crozier reestablishes control over the US military, directing them to assist the fans amidst the confusion. In the aftermath, Dethklok stands united, their bond forged through shared adversity and monumental sacrifice.

As the cacophony of the battle fades, Salacia emerges from his chrysalis-like concealment, unleashing a harrowing wave of power, effortlessly decimating countless foes. Undeterred by the destruction surrounding him, Nathan apprehensively harnesses the immense energy of the Doomstar, channeling it against Salacia’s ceaseless onslaught. The band’s synergy resonates deeply among the fervent followers, amplifying their strength. This powerful coalition becomes unbearable for Salacia, compelling him to retreat into the ocean’s depths, where he ultimately meets his demise at the hands of the enigmatic Whale Prophet.
