Heavy Metal L‑Gaim is a 1984 anime series directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, with character and mecha designs by Mamoru Nagano, later creator of The Five Star Stories. Set in the Pentagona System—a five‑planet solar system dominated by Emperor Oldna Poseidal and his 24 Temple Knights—after Poseidal’s triumph on Mizum in 3975, Kamon Walha V hides his son. Fifteen years later the son, now called Daba Myroad, pilots the legendary white mecha L‑Gaim to lead a rebellion that seeks to free the planets from Poseidal’s grasp.
