Maragadha Naanayam

Senguttuvan and Elango work for the local jewel smuggler Ramdoss, eking out small-time jobs. Senguttuvan is drawn to Chanakya, whom he sees every morning at the bus stop, but he never gets a chance to speak to her. The city’s petty crime world sets the stage for bigger ambitions.

A Chinese businessman arrives hoping to acquire the cursed emerald medallion 'Maragatha Naanayam'. He offers a huge sum, but most locals fear the curse and refuse to touch the stone. Senguttuvan, frustrated with small-time work, volunteers to pursue the job.

Senguttuvan and Elango visit a local priest who performs a ritual and provides a lemon to summon a vengeful spirit. The priest reveals the 132 deaths tied to the curse and warns they will need the help of one of the ghosts to proceed.

Before the ghost can fully appear, Ramdoss dies from a heart attack. At his burial, the lemon slips and falls onto Ramdoss’s hand, causing Chidambaram’s ghost to possess him. Senguttuvan and Elango are stunned to encounter Ramdoss speaking with Chidambaram’s voice.

Chidambaram decides to animate three recently dead bodies by using ghosts of those killed by the curse. The targets are an old beggar Selvaraj, a man decapitated in a freak accident, and Chanakya, who hanged herself.

Two of the ghosts successfully inhabit the new bodies, while the Tamil teacher struggles to stay in Selvaraj’s corpse. The trio of possessed bodies joins Senguttuvan and Elango in pursuit of the emerald.

Disguised as Twinkle Ramanathan’s henchmen, they interrogate Pandurangan and recover a fake emerald medallion. Their antics draw Ramanathan’s attention, complicating the hunt.

They learn the fake medallion was ordered by someone else and meet a dying maker who gives clues to the mastermind. The clue points to Krishnan, a local doctor who is himself a man killed by the curse. They kidnap Krishnan’s son to force answers.

Ramanathan’s henchmen capture Senguttuvan's team and take them to a torture chamber. They escape and manage to locate the original medallion, realizing the fake was not the real stone.

Despite Chidambaram’s warning, Senguttuvan and Elango touch the stone and activate the curse. They arrange a meet with John and the Chinese businessman, but a driverless lorry pursues them, killing John and the other man. They salvage the money and press on.

The Tamil teacher, inhabiting Selvaraj’s body, explains that to lift the curse they must return the stone to the King's grave. The group escapes both the lorry and Ramanathan’s gang on the way to the gravesite.

At the King's grave, Senguttuvan and Elango place the stone as Ramanathan’s gang closes in. Ramanathan agrees to let them place it before taking the stone himself, but the act frees them from the curse and releases the ghosts.

The four ghosts depart their borrowed bodies after being released. Chanakya’s voice lets Senguttuvan hear her for the first time, and there is a bittersweet farewell to Chidambaram before all are laid to rest.

In the credits scene, Ramanathan learns he’s under a fresh curse after a pilgrim returns the stone to him. The cycle of misfortune begins anew for him and the pilgrim who helped him.
