On the way to their elopement, Raja and Julie witness the murder of Minister Madhavan Nair. Varadappan, the killer, attempts to kill them to keep the crime secret. The lovers manage to escape and board a train toward Chennai.

Raja and Julie reach Chennai by train, seeking safety and a fresh start. The minister's murder becomes a larger case that attracts police attention. They hope the new city offers answers or refuge.

Chinnasamy, a CBI officer, is appointed to investigate the minister's murder. He travels to Chennai and begins gathering leads with his loyal constable Govindan. The case widens beyond a single crime as more players surface.

In Chennai, rival businessmen Nagarajan and Sivashankar become central figures. Chinnasamy initially suspects Nagarajan as the murderer, while Sivashankar secretly aids the investigation to trap his rival. The shifting alliances complicate the case.

Raja and Julie are separated as the investigation unfolds. Chinnasamy spots Julie and employs her as a maid in his home to keep an eye on her. This arrangement draws Julie closer to the investigation and to Raja's circle.

Chinnasamy and Sivashankar form a tacit alliance to build a case against Nagarajan, driven by rivalry. Sivashankar assists by providing information that helps map Nagarajan's secrets. The collaboration reveals Sivashankar's hidden motives and connections to Madhavan.

Sivashankar is revealed as Madhavan Nair's covert ally who had been entrusted with a large stash of black money. To prevent the money from being returned, Sivashankar used Varadappan as a killer to finish off Madhavan Nair. This motive ties the murder to the money and to Nagarajan's spying network.

Chinnasamy unravels that Sivashankar is the actual murderer, having manipulated Nagarajan to keep suspicion off himself. He pretends to doubt Nagarajan to draw Sivashankar into the frame and to collect decisive evidence. The truth about the murder finally starts to surface.

Varadappan is arrested but dies in a blast while in custody, removing a crucial witness from the case. The blast complicates the investigation but does not derail Chinnasamy's pursuit of the truth. The remaining evidence points toward Sivashankar.

Chinnasamy exposes Sivashankar as the murderer and secures decisive evidence. Raja and Julie are reunited with the help of Chinnasamy and return to Kerala, resuming their lives. Govindan is promoted to Inspector in recognition of his assistance.
