Set against the gritty streets of 19‑century London, a headstrong young woman falls in love with a notorious, womanizing criminal and they plan to marry. Her family objects fiercely; her father, known as the “king of thieves,” uses his underworld connections to have the gangster arrested, pitting love against loyalty.
