After completing Invitation to the Waltz, Lillian Harvey returns to Germany to star in Glückskinder (Children of Fortune). She portrays Ann Garden, an actress taken to night court for loitering, where she meets reporter Gil Taylor, a songwriter. To keep her out of jail Gil says they’re engaged; the judge marries them, launching a tuneful, uneven romance.
