Jobless former criminal Eddie Barrish searches for unattended cars and spots an unlocked Dolus luxury SUV. He climbs inside to loot valuables, but the car locks itself and traps him inside. He frantically struggles to break out, even cutting his arm in the process.

From the car's interior cameras, William, the car's owner, explains that this has been customized into an elaborate trap after six prior break-ins. He demonstrates by shocking Eddie with seat tasers and makes it clear he is watching every move.

Eddie fires at the bulletproof glass in a desperate bid to escape, but the shot ricochets and injures his leg. The car's interior remains pitch-dark and soundproof, preventing anyone outside from hearing the struggle.

William escalates the punishment, subjecting Eddie to heat, shocks, freezing air, and taunting yodeling music. By nightfall, Eddie apologizes for cursing and William reluctantly calls from the balcony of a nearby condo, explaining his motive and his sense of justice.

Eddie yields his personal information to William, who cools the car and offers water. While waiting, Eddie scratches a last lottery ticket and discovers he has won the money he needs; William rewards him with a cookie hidden in the glovebox and hints that the car’s electrical system could be used to escape.

The following day Eddie grows delirious and resorts to drinking his own urine for hydration. That night he believes he has started the car, but William reveals he is piloting the Dolus remotely, sending Eddie careening through the city.

During the remote joyride, William interrupts a pair of muggers and ignores Eddie’s pleas, using the SUV to crush them to death. Eddie is left powerless as the car tears through the streets.

The high-speed ride ends when an abrupt stop knocks Eddie unconscious. He wakes to a blurred scene, realizing the nightmare is far from over.

William uses Eddie’s information to locate Sarah and attempts to run her over on her way home from school; Sarah is spared. Eddie discovers the gun is unloaded and cannot shoot William, but he smashes the car’s cameras and dashboard display, sending a farewell message to his daughter.

William arrives to complete Eddie’s punishment, forces him to cuff himself, and reloads the gun. He reveals that Emma, his daughter, was killed during a robbery, fueling his vendetta, and drives them out of the city to finish Eddie off.

Eddie manages to disconnect the car’s power, triggering a dangerous crash as the SUV tumbles off the road. The gun fires during the chaos, and William is shot dead before he can unlock the car.

Breaking through the smashed rear windshield, Eddie is rescued by a passing driver. He later returns to the auto shop with his lottery winnings, though the van cannot be repaired in time.

With funds in hand, Eddie buys a bike for Sarah and rides it to her school, reuniting with his daughter. The simple act marks a new, hopeful path forward after the car-trap nightmare.
