Live Is Life (2022) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Throughout the film, the boys' journey culminates in a touching moment of sacrifice and hope. They reach the mountain top during dawn and, instead of drinking the potion themselves, they choose to give it entirely to Alvaro, who is suffering from cancer and facing a grim prognosis. This act signifies their deep friendship and their desire to do something extraordinary for their friend. As Alvaro drinks the potion, hopeful tears in his eyes, the film suggests that this magical element might hold real power, representing the boys’ love and belief that their innocence and unity can overcome even the harshest realities.

The story then moves to the hospital, where Suso’s father remains in a coma. In a quiet, poignant moment, Suso helps his father drink the healing potion, pleading with him not to leave. The friends’ actions embody their hope that love, friendship, and the innocence of childhood can bring salvation, even in the face of life-threatening illness. Afterwards, they leave baby Hope in the hospital nursery, naming her and ensuring she’s cared for, symbolizing the hope for new life and the continuation of their innocent adventures.
