Following the decommissioning of the patrol vessel Nagare, Daisuke Senzaki is reassigned as a Japan Coast Guard rescue diver. He is posted to the 10th Region Mobile Rescue Unit, based at Kagoshima Air Station. The change sets the stage for his future lifesaving missions.

En route to a routine training exercise, the Coast Guard learns that the passenger ferry Clover has run aground with four hours to evacuate. Senzaki and Yoshioka are among the first divers deployed by helicopter to the Clover. They assess the situation from the air and prepare for a daunting underwater operation. The clock is ticking as they brace for a mass evacuation under perilous conditions.

During the chaotic rescue, Senzaki discovers Izawa aboard the ferry, who had chosen to ride the ship home instead of driving. He urges her to abandon her belongings and head for the lifeboats. The personal stakes are heightened as a loved one becomes a fellow survivor in danger.
