A mysterious man arrives in a small town in Scotland, setting off a night of unease. PC Rachel Heggie wakes from a nightmare about childhood abuse and heads out on patrol. The town holds its breath as the incident begins to unfold.

Heggie witnesses the mysterious man being struck by Caesar's car and vanishing. She arrests Caesar for reckless driving as the investigation begins. The hit-and-run marks the first direct contact between the victim and the police.

Caesar is taken to the station, and Mundie and Warnock bring in the mute, scratched man who carries only a notebook of names. Heggie orders a medical examination to identify the stranger. The man’s arrival unsettles the precinct and hints at a deeper danger.

Dr. Duncan Hume examines the stranger, but a flashback overwhelms him and he briefly tries to kill the patient. The man is noted to carry fingerprints of an old man who died over 20 years ago, linking him to a past crime. A flashback also troubles Macready, who orders Six to be placed in cell six.

Mundie experiences a painful flashback to beating a prisoner alongside Warnock. The memory underscores the moral rot within the station. The tension mounts as the investigation deepens.

In the cell, the enigmatic Six questions Beswick about why he beats his wife and pushes him toward despair. Beswick is driven to attempt suicide under Six’s unsettling scrutiny. The scene heightens the sense that Six knows too much about their lives.

Caesar warns Heggie, while Beswick dies after claiming to know who Six is. The detectives fear Six may be more than a prisoner or victim. Heggie’s investigation deepens as she confronts the mystery.

Mundie and Warnock go to Hume’s house to search for his wife, while Macready drives to his own home. The pursuit widens beyond the station, showing the killers’ reach. The tension escalates as more secrets spill out.

Heggie studies Six’s notebook and discovers all the listed names belong to deceased criminals. This revelation ties Six directly to the victims and heightens the sense of an impending reckoning. The supernatural aura around Six intensifies.

Six reveals knowledge of Heggie’s childhood abuse and offers Caesar redemption if he confesses to a second hit-and-run. Caesar weighs the offer, torn between truth and self-preservation. Heggie confronts the personal cost of justice.

In interrogation, Hume finally confesses to Mundie about killing his own family. Warnock, remembering his past brutality, has a flashback and erupts in a brutal rage, murdering Hume in front of Heggie and Mundie. The violence shatters the room and underscored moral collapse.

Macready returns, insane and wrapped in barbed wire, firing a shotgun and shooting Warnock. He wounds Heggie and Mundie as he sets the building on fire and Caesar is killed with a gunshot after a facial scar. The siege spirals toward a deadly climax.

During the chaos, Mundie is killed as Macready presses her throat into broken glass. Heggie is also wounded as the inferno rages. Macready is mortally wounded in the explosion, and Heggie finishes him off with a battering ram.

Heggie escapes the wreckage as Six returns, notebook in hand. He crosses off every name except Heggie’s and declares himself an outcast who will judge the guilty. He reveals he’s in love with Heggie and they share a kiss, sealing a dangerous alliance.
