A rubber raft drifts across the lake as a sudden tug yanks Tillman into the water. A severed hand and a foot surface, signaling a predator is at work. Frank reports the grisly findings to Sheriff James Riley, setting the investigation in motion.

James, Frank, and wildlife officer Emma Warner venture onto the lake to search for answers. They soon uncover more of Tillman's remains, confirming a dangerous animal is stalking the area. The fear among the investigators grows as the mystery deepens.

Three friends - Mike, Edie, and Sharon - hike through the forest and stop to swim. They vanish into the water without a trace, suggesting the same predator is stalking inland. The town tightens security around the forest and lake as rumors spread.

Investigators arrive at Sadie Bickerman’s cabin, hoping for clues about the crocodiles. The elderly hermit refuses to answer questions or let them in. Her evasiveness hints at a deeper danger lurking around the lake.

A crocodile surfaces and destroys the investigators' boat, forcing them to scramble to safety. The encounter makes it clear the creature is highly dangerous and capable of rapid, brutal attacks. The chase pushes the team toward more desperate measures.

A poacher Struthers and his assistant Ahmad arrive by plane after a tip about giant crocodiles. They plan to use aerial distraction to hunt the beast, which sets up a confrontation with the others. The arrival introduces a new human threat alongside the predator.

Sheriff’s son Scott Riley ventures into the woods and seems to be stalked by the approaching crocodile. He meets Kerri and her boyfriend Thad, while Daisy the dog senses danger nearby. The group realizes the threat is expanding beyond the water.

Sadie converses with a photographer at a boat dock; the photographer is killed by a crocodile while taking pictures. The brutal death underscores the danger that surrounds every shoreline. The investigation shifts to include this new, violent threat.

James slows the boat and deliberately hurls Frank into the water, hoping to distract the crocodile. The beast surfaces and topples them into the water again as they struggle to reach land. This brush with death confirms escape will be difficult.

The group builds a camp for the night as a wild boar becomes the crocodile’s accidental meal. The predator manages to break free during a rope tussle with Deputy Davis, who is killed in the ensuing chaos.

Scott, Kerri, and Thad discover eggs in the woods. Thad breaks some eggs and is swiftly killed by a crocodile. The others attempt to bait the predator with a boar carcass, but a harpoon damages Struthers’ plane, complicating efforts.

Thunderstorms rage through the night, driving everyone into tents. Scott and Kerri are stranded with Larry as a third crocodile closes in. Larry falls to his death, heightening the stakes for the survivors.

James locates the two surviving teenagers and defeats the crocodile using a grenade launcher. Sadie reveals there are four crocodiles and lures the remaining predators toward the lake, only to be devoured herself. The police engage another crocodile while Emma punctures its mouth with a jackknife, killing it.

Struthers is left hanging upside down on a tree and decapitated by the last crocodile. James finishes the final threat with explosives, destroying the crocodile’s nest and ending the immediate danger. The battle among people and predators ends with a quiet calm over the lake.

Scott, Kerri, James, and Emma leave the lake together with Daisy reuniting with the teens. James and Emma carry the crocodile eggs to a laboratory for analysis, hoping to understand the nest and the species. The film closes with a quiet reminder of the costs of survival and the mysteries still hiding beneath the water.
