Mo Tak-fai and Lai Chi travel to mainland China on a business trip. Chi smuggles relics, which triggers a chase by the police. They must find a way to escape, setting the stage for the extraordinary events to come.

To shake off their pursuers, the duo hides in a cave. While there, Chi is bitten by a poisonous snake. The incident introduces the mystery of the relics and their potential power.

Chi discovers a medicine linked to an ancient hero named Long Jianfei. The medicine detoxifies Chi and unexpectedly grants Tak-fai and Chi internal strengths. The brothers realize their fate is tied to more than ordinary luck.

Tak-fai and Chi rescue Princess Yunluo and her maid Xiao Man from the Yuan Dynasty, after they have slept for about 800 years. In freeing them, they unwittingly release Tian Can, a two-hundred-year-old evil martial-arts master. The instant reunion with Yunluo introduces a clash between eras and powers.

The group travels to Hong Kong with the two heroines, leaving the ancient world behind. Yunluo quickly adapts to modern life, while Tak-fai and Chi contend with their newfound powers. The arrival marks a new chapter of training and adaptation.

To prepare for Tian Can, Yunluo teaches Tak-fai the 'Buddha's Palm' while Chi struggles but shows skill in the 'Seven Rotary Slice'. Their different abilities shape the coming duel. The mentorship under Yunluo bridges two centuries of martial arts.

Tian Can reaches Hong Kong and demonstrates overwhelming power. Tak-fai is defeated as he has not yet mastered the 'Ten Thousand Buddhas' technique. The ominous threat becomes immediate and personal for the trio.

Tian Can forces Tak-fai to eat a cursed silkworm, a weapon that causes pain whenever Tian Can plays his drum. The torture raises the stakes and fuels Tak-fai's resolve to master his techniques. The drum becomes a ticking menace in their battles.

A few days after the healing, Tak-fai achieves mastery of the 'Ten Thousand Buddhas' technique. The new power empowers him to face Tian Can on more equal terms. Yunluo and Chi witness his transformation and pledge to stand by him.

In a climactic duel, Tak-fai unleashes the Ten Thousand Buddhas to cripple Tian Can's martial arts. The mighty foe is outmatched as Tak-fai's mastery turns the tide. With Tian Can defeated, Tak-fai steps into the role of a true hero, while Yunluo and Chi celebrate the hard-won victory.
